i'm taking the Sem 3 test tomorrow, and i'm afraid i'm not going to pass :(  I've barely passed the first two tests, but this semester was extra hard.  a lot of hard stuff to memorize, like holddown timers, and other times.  addresses, etc.  this stupid 3.0 curriculum :(

Well, if you've put the work into it, don't worry too much about the test. Worrying doesn't really help- or over-stressing doesn't anyway... Good luck!

Stealth, the tests are all designed to prompt you to remember the information you know. Don't worry about it. If you know the information, the test helps you. If you don't know the info, the test will bend you over a table and use you a like a prison *****.

If it helps at all, the first time I took a Cisco exam, I was coming off an 11pm-8am shift, I had never even looked at any Cisco hardware, nor had I studied anything (in other words, I didn't know anything, period). While I did fail the exam, I only failed it by one question.

Are we talking about the Cisco Networking Academy stuff, or actual professional tests like the CCNA (and onward) exams?

And mik, I definitely fell into the latter category :D:D

Professional certification tests, which tend towards practical questions rather than theoretical ones.

Cisco Networking Academy stuff is... well... odd. In Cisco internal lore, the Networking Academy stuff is a convenient way to shed tax liability. They don't really believe in it or even care about how its run.

really?  cause i'm in the cisco networking academy.

could you give me more information please on this networking academy?  I've been enrolled since middle of last year, i'm just finishing semester 3, but i'd really like to know more of what it's about, like, why cisco is offering it for free and such :/ :doubt:

by the way, i failed with a 67.4.

but after a bit of revision, i know some of the questions i got wrong, so i'm retaking it tomorrow

They offer it for free becasue its good cheap public relations and a tax write off.

yeah OK... makes sense.

one thing you might be able to help me with... i don't feel like digging through the curriculum for this:
on full deplex, how many pairs of cables are required?  I thought it was four (right?) because doesn't half-duplex require two pairs of cable?

oh, and one more thing... is it "vertical cross connect cabling" or is it something else?  there were two answers on the test, one was "Vertical Cross Connect Cabling" and the other was "Vertical *something* Cabling".  i know i got it wrong, but i can't remember which answer i put :-/

which is the correct term?
