DVD+R reading issues
So a freind gives me a dvd+r disc with something on it (dunno wot, it was a surprise) but I can't get my dvd drive to read it properly. Sometimes it spins up, and just keep trying to read the format, other times it allows you to open up directories but hangs on files within. Any idea of the problem? :hopping:

Did he finalise the DVD after burning it? I'm not certain if DVDs still have this problem but in the early days of CD burning I remember being told that many drives would have trouble reading a CD with an open session.

If the DVD is yours now and you have a DVD writer you could try closing it yourself.

Maybe your drive can't read DVD+R 's properly. Some drives can't depending on their age. Do have any DVD-R's you can test to see?

Cheers!

Think there's something like 7 different DVD standards.... may want to look into that area - I'm not sure if there is one de-facto standard nowadays, natch.

There seem to be very few DVD readers that will look at a multisession DVD, finalized or not. Out of our 5 computers here, all with different drives, only 4 will read recorded DVDs and none will look at sessions from 2 onwards.
