Yeah, people always say "I'm going" then "Whoops I'm back" but not me.
I'm moving into my bro's gaff and he doesn't bother keeping a land phone line (mobiles see ?) so the chances of me getting online on any sort of regular basis is pretty slim.

I hoped to have my 'vette working by now but I've not had much time to play around with it. Shame really, as I had started to produce some nice stuff recently.

Anyway, thanks alot for getting me stated in this modding lark and for putting up with my dumb/smart ass questions/comments/observations etc.

I'm gonna stick at it and hopefully I'll have some cool ships to show off as and when I can get hooked up (and assuming you lot are still modding FS:nervous:)

Later all!

Can someone explain to me the phrase "sodding off"? I'm guessing it has something to do with the sort of things KT and an0n do to each other when no one's watching, but what's the ORIGIN?

I can only assume it goes back to the time when people dug peat for fuel/building material. Maybe once the cart was full you would sight 'Right, I'm sodding off' ;)

It's to do with the phrase sod-off! Which prolly comes from a variation of bugger off (soddom - bugger)

The unofficial derivation of "sod off"
David Roberts wrote, about the idiom "sod off":
Just occurred to me that perhaps you wanted to know the origin of this popular phrase. It all started back in the Middle Ages with the turf-dwellers of Romford. These hard working peasant folk lived in low grass covered houses on the banks of the Thames. In order to enter or leave one of these Squatts as they were known, a piece of turf or sod would be lifted away from the door opening. The term "sod off" was thus coined to mean "The door is open, feel free to leave". This term eventually replaced such phrases as "Well, don't let me keep you", "My, is that the time?" and "We must have lunch together one day". Interestingly the term "sodding" was often used to refer to unwelcome guests due to the work of lifting the sod to see who's there. This is still in common use today as in "Oh bugger, it's the sodding Jehovah's Witnesses". If you are very interested you could find a copy of "England as it is spoke" by Queen Victoria's brother Albert, written shortly before he was eaten by the lion.

This was all I kind find on the net, and to think I was joking ;)

It's nice to think that not everything is about sex and religion, so I hope this is accurate, well, except about the Lion :D
