Happy Time with FSPort
yeah, Lucifer went down some time ago, and currently im in Silent Treath's mission "secrets revealed". im having really fun time trying to intercept half a dozen enemy fighters from ripping the bombers to pieces, all by myself, as my wingmen decided to die against the enemy waves.at the first go, it went pretty well and i got about 50 kills, but every single bomber, and the Orff got blown out of the sky, and i got rolled over by overwhelming fighter amounts:blah: second go i picked the valkyrie and changed the wing layout some, but i got owned after again all of my friendlies were first blown to dust:eek: third go i decided to try a bomber, but got killed before the Hades even jumped in. no other mission has given much of a trouble to me, so it came as a surprise that this mission is rather impossible for me, mainly because im practically fully responsible of escorting the bombers so they can kill the Hades, as for some strange reason my wingmen get killed so quickly

poor Orff and it's bomber wing never stood a chace against the never-ending waves of Lokis coming from Hades

oh well, i'll try again tomorrow, i'm going to sleep now.

if you can manage to destroy 99 wings of lokis, then you win

if this is the port, you can cheat and blow up the hades and/or make yourself invincible

Remember that this is a Port of the missions from the original FS1 engine.  Under FS1, there was no flag preventing simple fighter primaries from being used to knockout a full-blown cap-ship.  That was probably the most common method of killing the Hades in the original... wait until you've lost everyone, then take up position within the groove on the main hull and plug away with the time accelleration active.  A friend of mine once taped the fire-button down on his stick and then went and had supper. :D

  • Already told you people too much!
Biggest tip ever:

Get in between the Hades hull spot deal where no fighters can reach you, and sit there and shoot the Hdes for 30 min. and you win:D

As I said, it'll only work that way under original FS1+ST, not on FS2+FSPort.

phreak & lightspeed: i dont use cheats :)

jdjtcagle: that sounds intersting, i'll try that one if i understand what you are talking :) (in other words im going to make a Fred mission with only hades and me and try to find nice spots where nobody else(AI) can reach)

karajorma: already tried that, results were rather lethal(to me)

cheats? I dont need smelling cheats to call in a Sathanas. I just give it a call and it jumps in. ("c", "4", "Sathanas")

Herc mk1.
Phoenix Vs (Or trebs or whatever they be called in the port you're playing).
Prom/Flail (Avenger on harder settings).
Hornets or Interceptors.

Support ship is your friend.

Pwned mission. ¬.¬

it worked!(though i noticed the flails to be useless and phoenixes too) ... but i had some volition bravos' helping(to draw fire to themselves), but as lightspeed said calling sathanas during mission isn't cheating, then calling volition bravos shouldn't be either :p

kills after mission: 47 Lokis(+2 Hermeses)

i had 3 bombers left after the mission

rofl at the recommendations:lol:

They're good anti fighter ships, but really just beam fodder.

The trick to this mission, one of the hardest ever created...is to equip every wing with Ursa or Medusa bombers and equip them with synaptic bombs, prometheus cannons, and harbinger and then tsunami bombs.

If done right, the massed firepower will first take out the installation and then when the Hades arrives you'll have enough firepower to chew through the first two waves of fighters (the fire from the bombers turrets plus primary cannons is almost enough) and then launch a 16 or 20 bomber strike on the Hades.  Add the Orff and the extra 5 bombers and you have a potent force that will bring the Hades down to 20% or less.  Usually by this time they are running out and the Loki's have taken the remaining vessels out.  Now you need to do the hard part and take it the rest of the 20% down.

Ah, ST. Ice's tactical approach is pretty much the safest. I chose to go heroic and take a fighter myself, disarmed the Hades, then found a cranny where the Lokis couldn't get to me - then seriously, put my keys down on the Ctrl key and walked away. Came back a while later and found I'd been left with 12% hull from the resultant shockwave... but it was worth it.

Same here more or less.
Hardest Mission?
......................................When you're against loki's...................?

Hellfire is harder than that :/

SanKor --
The Flail is there to catch the loki, slow'em down/disorientate the AI.
Hit it with flail once or twice in a combo with prom then pwn the now not moving fighter.

PVs are there so that you can kill the Hades yourself if you lose the other bombers.

Since.....there's no way in hell a Herc with those primaries should ever die to 100 or so lokis even on insane -_-
