I was watching the FS1 intro and thought that the current warp ani doesn't really capture the feel of the warp effects in the movie. Where the current in-game effect just sort of springs up out of nowhere, the movie effect explodes with a bright white pulse before settling down into the familiar blue ripple. I want to try and emulate that effect, so I cobbled together an impact effect and warp map from the Inferno release. I think that it looks pretty good, at least in ANIVIEW32. But when I try to use it in-game, the warp map looks the same.
What filename should I have for the warp map ani? Right now it's warpmap01.ani, which I thought was the right one, but you never know...
ANIBUILD32 asks me for a 'loop' frame. I assumed that frame would be used to loop the ani after a specific point, IE: my new shockwave/exposion thing happens and then the map loops the regular old blue ripple. Is that what that does, or am I out to lunch?
Anything else I should know about in-game ANI's before I get too far into this?
Here's the ANI if you want to test it. Credit for the graphics should of course go to the Inferno team, all I did was cobble them together. If I can get this working, I will try to build my own shockwave effect to more closely match the FS1 into.
