I got problems... (with my computer :p)
Ok, I noticed my computer was running very slow every since my firewall went haywire on a gaming site (freeroms.com or something)  and screens popped up with software trying to enter my computer.  I never pushed allow, but they still got through, somehow... I noticed when I had 49 proccess running on my computer!!!  But I don't know how to stop the process permanetly, get rid of them, or what to mess with.
And for the first time, as I was typing this, a cirtual memory error just came up.

Someone help... please :(

Search on Google for 'Lavasoft Adaware' and 'Spybot Search and Destroy', and scan your computer with 'em.

Have both... and something better called Spy Sweeper, that finds more stuff than both put together usually...

And run Google's toolbar or Firefox to prevent the problem again.

Make sure you're running a firewall such as Zonealarm that can put the kibosh on any program that asks for access to the internet.

Also contact the Webmaster and inform him of the problems.  Explain that while you understand the need for popups to pay the bills you don't appreciate the way they take away control of your computer from you by installing and running software without your permission.

You've run all three of them?

I'd suggest going throug the startup programs list in Spybot and disabling startup entries that look suspicious. Usually you can do a Google search for an EXE name and come up with something, if you aren't all that well-versed in the startup stuff.

BTW, I would recommend switching over to the complete Mozilla family; it isn't all that much different from IE, with a few good features, and you can keep IE installed in case you need to access a site that's IE-only. (Not that you have much choice in keeping IE on newer Windows. :doubt: )

See if the program's builder was good enough to leave you an entry in the Add/Remove dialog.  Failing that do a search of the files on your comp for the offending wanker and delete the folder it's in if possible and the exe for sure.

When you install Zonealarm make sure to have it ask you for permission when you start a program that asks for Internet access.  When you look in ZAs permission list there should entries for your browers, Outlook/OE, FTP clients, any IM programs you might you, download managers, ect. that you start yourself or know that you have set to start automatically(such as download managers being tied in to the browser session) and stuff you have denied permission.
