Would it be possible to make the player a cruiser or capship, while using the comm to order the guns as well as other ships around? (I dunno i think this would belong in this forum)

I don't think so, because I'd imagine you'd need to add SEXPs to target every enemy in the mission with every gun on the player ship - i.e. a lot of complex SEXP's and commands.

Plus, if you get too many damaged subsystems, the HUD code will make it crash.
