Derelict in FS2_Open
On the mission where you have to "play dead"...is it just me, or is that mission several times harder than it was originally? I can barely get to the play dead part, and almost immediately afterwards the Grace dies.

The messages seem to be ****ed up, Mackie sends one about the Shivans arriving as soon as the mission starts.

And of course, I don't think there's supposed to be 3 wings of Shivan fighters actively trying to kill you while you're 'playing dead', kind of spoils the strategy.

Am I getting the 'canon' Derelict experience, and should just give up and try it on Very Easy, or is there something else going on? (I'm on "Easy" :ha: )

Same here, this mission is totally screwed on FS2_Open.

It doesn't matter anyway, you can just Alt-J to warp out and continue with the other missions.

I could play it without any of those problems like 3 months ago.

I think it's a SEXP error.

It seems that the SEXP that *should* execute after the whole play dead thing is being executed before, causing all the enemy wings to jump in.

Stick this in Derelict's data/missions folder, it will make the mission playable.

What's really needed is a weapons-fired SEXP, or better yet, a SEXP to check if the player has executed a certain action for a key, not just pressed a key.

Edit: Note that while the mission will be playable, and beatable, every time the Shivans show up they'll detect you. This seems to be a problem with a SEXP, but I don't know which it is.

I've played Derelict under FSO and never had this problem.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Ahh Derelict... I still got the first few voice files for this game. It adds so much atmosphere :)

They never did finish off the voice acting sadly...
