Hi,

I use the game updater included with freespace 2 and it gives me an error everytime i try to update to version 1.2 from 1.0. I really want to play multiplayer - so is there any way to get around this?

If you have a full retail version and you wish to update, download the FS 1.0 - 1.2 patch.

If you have the HOTU version grab the the v1.2 exe off one of the FTP's and the root.vp file.

However, since you want multiplayer, you should concider playing with fsopen.

Maybe its something to do with getting the game from "the-underdogs.com"

Should i just replace that .exe with the polish version .exe (difference is, i bought the polish version).

You don't need the update then...
Just get the Root.vp from Fractux FTP or Karajormas FAQ, IIRC just Fractux Server... *thinks*

Ok, i know i don't have version 1.2 because when i go to multiplay it tells me to update.

I put the root file into my main freespace directory and overwrote the old one, but when i tried to update (both with ingame updater and the exe one provided here) i get the same error.

Also can somebody link me to FSOpen? Thanks for your help, this forum is awesome.

Get the launcher from here

Get the Media VPs (optional) from here

The FS2_Open 3.6 thread does contain an installer that will help you set things up but the problem is that some of the files it installs are the older versions. The links I gave above do contain the newer versions though so you might find using the installer easier.

PXO isn't down. It's dead.

However FS2_Open has it's own version of multiplayer. Check out
