Probably useless idea...
Hi again ! Been away for a while.

Just had this little idea while watching Babylon 5: In the Beginning. When The Black Star jumped in the middle of the Earthforce fleet, the Jump point itself destroyed most of the EA warships.

I thought that, someone could make FS2 universe jump point to cause damage to any capship & fighter in close proximity. Could be FRED2 thingy, where you could set the amount of damage the jump point makes.

If not anywhere else, I think this would make an exellent feature to TBP project. Any suggestions ?

if I recall correctly, I tried this against the Sathanis.  It gave me a colision error, but it would be nice if you could  damage capships if they jumped out through your fighter.   I'd prefer some kind of visual or audio warning from a capship about to jump out though.

I see, it has already been tried. This audio & Visual idea is BTW pretty good.

Still, this would be pretty annoying in intense missions where there are lot of capships jumping in and out, but it certainly would increase tension.

Might want to ask what the tBP team are doing with this :)  I think they may have their own little SCP branch, too.

Oh, I didn't remember that they are doing their own candy for TBP.

It wouldn't be hard for a FREDder to do this in any mission you wanted the feature in anyway.

All you'd have to do is check the distance between where you wanted the ship to warp in and the ship you wanted to damage and then use the sabotage subsystem SEXP.

Or create a pure green explosion and define its position by getting the X, Y and Z coordinates of the vessel that's jumping in/out when all the conditions for its entry/exit are met.

I was thinking of something along those lines but didn't know how feasable it would be. Get the timing right and you could have ships knocked out of the way by the jumppoint opening :D
