Hello,
I've spent the better part of the day playing with the latest SCP build and it's various available add-ons. Just a few observations:
System
------------
Celeron 1.7 ghz
512 MB ram
60 gb disk space
Nvidia 5200 256mb
Soundblaster Live Platinum
Missions tested:
---------------------
Main FS2 campaign, various.
Installation
---------------------------------
Absolute piece of cake. No installation related issues whatsoever with the launcher, the executable, or any of the enhancements availble. I read the "readme" files first. Very straightforward and easy to do. Even set up a nice directory structure so I can track what versions of what pack are installed (and where they go).
Configuration
---------------------------------
Thanks for including various "default" options for setting command switches. Made the process much easier.
Performance
---------------------------------
Yes, I ran into the same virtual memory problems everyone else seems to when running SCP with every option cranked on. I could get through maybe two missions before performance degraded to the point of being unplayable. Turning off high memory options and increasing pagefile sizes did the trick. I am trying by trial and error to see which feature(s) cause this, though I'm pretty certain it's already known.
Color me crazy, but it almost looks like overall performance is signifigantly improved over the retail release. I'm running this in high detail/32bit/1024X768 and slowdowns are extremely rare. Of course, I haven't tried the final mission yet....
playing SCP is a pure jaw-dropping experience. There aren't enough words of compliment to all of you for doing such a fine job.
Wierdness
---------------------------------------------
Running this with OpenGL as the renderer, entering the first mission played in the nebula, the nebula is a huge, blue field. Switching back to D3D made the nebula effects appear.
Installed the high detail Fenris textures. Now the GTC trinity has the decal for the GTC Orff. Go figure

.
Occasional strange flickering in the thrusters on all craft, but not really that noticeable.
Shines occasionally look VERY strange, particularly in "Lion's Door" on the side of the Orion ship. Sometimes it would turn into a straight white sheet for a few seconds.
All in all, totally brilliant and enjoyable. Thank you so much.
