In the Volition thread (that was closed), you guys mentioned that Red Faction 2 was the last PC game by THQ. Well, in case someone hasn't told you already, They are publishing the awesome-to-be S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl. So don't lose hope, because that game will match Half-life2's graphics, and the gameply sounds sweeeet.  So maybe THQ will consider another PC game. After all, STALKER was completely independent, so it had the same potential as a freespace sequel.

Man, I can't beleive you guys heavent heard of this!

http://www.dawnofwargame.com/

This is going to bloody rock! Not only because I work at a GW, but to finally see a game that actually does Warhammer 40k justice, brings tears to my eyes.
I have returned... Again...

THQ seem to have looked at the blindingly obvious evidence that to be succesful in the PC market you just cant try and make them like console games.

If you look at the fall of Interplay which really ****ed up when they decided to make console games and make pc games like console games THQ have done the opposite. I just hope it pays off with their big 2 pc titles being hits.

  • In the morning!
Despite being delayed till the fourth fiscal quarter in the US, STALKER will be a kick butt game.
Now, does that mean it's around the corner, or we'll have to wait till next summer?  I think right now is the start of the 2005 Fiscal year.. I think, though I'm probably wrong.

You assume that Volition would want to..........

Stalker is pretty much finished the delay is to maximise sales.

the words "if" or "might" may be small, but they can carry a lot of wieght down with them with the possibilities.

Ya know, if STALKER is going to fail I don't know what game would work. It looks awesome, the physics engine seems great, the screenies are fantastic, and the story is more then OK.

I just hope they get the translation better done than that on the website.

That would be rather nice.

Or they could include a "Learn Russian in 24 hours" thingy with each game, for realisms sake :)

It could be like a foreign film
Dude, if STALKER had Russian, they'd better have both subtitles and an English dubbing, because either way works, but having neither (or having both really crappy, like some ANIME), is just wrong.

BTW, someone brought up a really good point. Even if V did FS3, it wouldn't be the same V as the guys that did FS2. Heck, what if most of them are gone? that'd be no different than any ol' group writing it, right? RIGHT? :(

What do you guys think? (PLEASE don't flame me, i like my @ss) :shaking:

Hopefully it won't get Freespaced.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Freespaced.  v.  (frē-spāst)
1) To deliberately downplay, neglect, or otherwise sell something short of its potential.  2) To under-advertise a product because someone decided it competes with a more crappy product when it in fact does not.  3) To publicize in a fashion like the game Freespace 2.

Well, there's hope yet. Don't get pessimistic so soon.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

I actually remember another game that exact same thing happened to. It was called Star Control 2. It was an excellent game. The sound and music was amazing considering its age.
