Where can I buy potion (healing as well as buff) and scrolls? Can I even buy these from merchants, or do I have to trade with players? I've looked everywhere (in Stormwind and surrounding areas) but no one seems to sell them.

i haven't played since beta but try look at the auction houses, they are usually only at the MAJOR cities.

Your answer lies in Ironforge, the trading capitol of Lordaeron.  

To get there, you must go to the dwarven district in Stormwind, then look for what looks like a two story high spinning cog with a teleport through it.  Go in, ride the tram, and end up in Ironforge.  Ask a guard where the auction house is, and it will be pointed on your map.

I did just that, oddly enough before you mentioned it. But Stormwind also has an auction house. I'm wondering if you can buy potions and scrolls from regular merchants...

The last time I checked, only Ironforge had an AH.  And I just checked not two days ago.  Must be a realm thing.

Anyway, unless I am mistaken, potions and scrolls come from drops, quests, and alchemists only.  Check www.thottbot.com and see which creatures and quests give you the things you need.

no, you're right, it is only in Ironforge. I just assumed all capitals had them, I guess it because Stormwind guards have an "Auction House" dialog option, which I only now discovered points you to Ironforge. I places a bid, and also did one or two buyouts. But the thing is, I never got the items that I bought, I just payed for them and never recieved them. It wasn't a lot of money, a few silver, but I'm wondering if I should do that in the future, cause it may happpen again.
