Hey, it works! Allow me to introduce myself. I am Stardust, the Sword of Vengeance.
First off, I'll start off my litany with compliments. Inferno absolutely kicks ass!!!!! I saw it and i was like....WHOA!!!!!! This would make an EXCELLENT Freespace 3!!! The ships, the weapons, the gameplay blew me away.
However, I was jsut wondering - I wont ask when R2 comes out, ive been browsing some of the threads and won't ask that. It's been asked twenty thousand times already. What I would like to know is, assuming that you stick with the features and ships that there already are in the mod, (arguably) wouldn't the only thing needed to get a whole litany of "releases" out there be to make a whole bunch of missions? I actually made a mission with Earth, the Gigas, and the shivan planetkiller, as well as the Icanus. I think of it as the Shivan battle over Earth that I've heard much about. It wasn't all that hard. Bear in mind, I managed to do it in the middle of my college semester!
Also, I dont know if anyone's tried this, but if you go to google and do an image search for some of the ships in Inferno R1, you actually get hits. Perfect example - SOD Segomo. It's in the "techdest.htm" page. The only pages that I find work are the patges for the destroyers and the super ships - ex: the Gigas and the Icanus. I would like to see the blog about the advanced phobos corvette, but that page doesn't seem to exist.
I like to play Inferno, it has a lot of things that strait FS2 has, only I can't modify teh max velocity for fighters. I hacked the tbl entry for the Aries (strait FS2) and tripled its afterburner capacity. My point is, with the massive size of ships and missions in Inferno, shouldn't the fighters be able to get around faster? An afterburner should be able to propel a ship at extremely high velocity. But the bombers' afterburners push the ship barely a third faster than strait max speed. Cmon, you KNOW it would be fun to zip around the Nemesis at 500 mps!
Alsp, what format is R1 packaged in? The file name is INF_Main.vp. What is a .vp file? I would like to see what is packaged into this file, so I can mess around with it.
Can anyone shed some light here?
