Canada has the CRTC for music regulation...what does the US have?
Looking at a comparative essay topic of CRTC in Canada vs whatever there is in the US.  Who regulates the music industry in the US?  Who does the censorship?  The content regulation?  How is that handled...the FCC?  Having a hard time figuring it out.

Enlighten please :)

Yes, the FCC is responsible for censoring pretty much everything in the US Media.  Think of them as The Patriots of Media.

Yeah... the FCC is the one who's fining all of the stations for vulgarity, and imposing a fine on Janet Jackson because of her malfunction. :p

Yeah, it's mostly the Fascist Communications Commission.

Haha, did I say that?

Which just so happens to be run by Colin Powell's son, Michael. Though AFAIK he's going to quit soon (or rather, not seek to stay on for another "term").

Pretty much, yeah. From what I know, they have no legal power as such. But they can (and do) appeal to the judicial branch to intervene on their behalf, though the process is the same as if any other citizen were to do so (well, in theory anyway. We all know that money talks.)

Just out of interest am I the only person who thinks of Mike from Spaced with a gun in his mouth whenever that song is played?

Overblown lobby group with enough lawyers to shove a Helios up the ass of anyone they even remotely suspect of downloading music, whether it's copyrighted by one of their member labels or not. They've sued dead people, 12 year old girls, and people who don't even own computers. They've hired their own private police force to do what the BATF, FBI, and other law enforcement agencies won't do for them.

In short, RIAA + MPAA + DOJ = 1984.

Just you people wait, they're gonna soon sue our pets. Mostly probably for performing "who let the dogs out" in a public area without paying royalties.
I have returned... Again...
