Actually if memory serves the aliens' heads don't come to a point at all.  They sweep back, but then round off at the end.  Anyway, those "heads" remind me most, oddly enough, of a Zora from Zelda on the N64.

Yeah, the fishmen, that's them.  They had a fin or something extra at the ends of their heads, but the long, pointy extrusion is highly reminiscent.
