I recently downloaded the Ezechiel posted by StratComm here. After installing the files, I opened up Fred 2 and got an error message stating that Fred couldent find a file in the maps folder called 'GLASS' referenced by the model. I noticed the files in the maps folder were in .tga format, so I converted them to .pcx. I opened up Fred 2 and got the same error again.

I then opened up Fred 2 Open 3.6.5 and placed the ship. It worked fine! I then opened up modelview32 to get to the bottom of the mystery. When I went to the ezechiel.pof file, I got yet another error message:

Error #6027:
Too many bounding boxes.
Should be <=4886184

I'm totally stumped on how to get this model to work in retail Fred 2. Assistance please? :confused:

That model inherently won't work in retail anything.  LOD0 is over 2000 polys and it has transparent maps.  And if all you did was convert to pcx and save, I'd be willing to bet that you didn't make them 8-bit PCX files.  It also would not suprise me at all if it doesn't open in modelview either if you're not using the bumped limits version.  If you must use retail FRED, turn ship models off.

If you're wanting stability, Phreaks new fred build is pretty close.  There are a still a handful of rendering issues (briefing icons :blah:) but the overall performance of that build is almost as good as retail but with the added features of FSO.  I'm not sure if it works, but there is also an option to save out as a retail mission, should you so desire to maintain backwards-compatability.  Though if that's your goal, using the 'zech defeats that purpose.  And make sure you credit Nico for it, all I did was screw around with the subobject and texture ordering.

Backwards compatibility is exactly my goal, so it looks like the zech is out of the project. I just downloaded that new fred build. It runs quite nicely. The Y-axis lines display correctly and it seems pretty stable. Kudos to Phreak!:cool::yes: I just hope the Backwards compatibily option functions correctly.

You could always try using one of the older versions of the Ezechiel (ie the non-HTL ones)...

Older versions? Where? :nervous:
I did a search but I only found the HTL version. Linky please?

It's a guess, but try in Nico's OTT ship pack.  That's where the Ezechiel was supposed to be in the first place, but it was so good that Nico just had to high-polify it.  The OTT 'zech is a little different, so be warned.
