Big deal. Its a harmless prank.

and besides, I don't see why they would do it. What's more, I don't see why a Tory is holding a placard supporting asylum seekers, aren't they supposed to be against that sort of thing?

Greg Palast was right, you guys are missing the whole point. Look at the US: they have a porous border with Mexico, and they're making out like bandits what with all the cheap, easily intimidated labour and all.

It's not a prank, though; he doctored his own photo.  It's ****ing hilarious, because it's so blindingly obvious.

And yeah, the Tories are rabidly against asylum seekers.  Scapegoatery = votes, I guess - IIRC they've been indirectly warned by the head of the comission of racial equality (in a generic warning against parties fearmongering against immigrants; but it's pretty blatant who he'd mean).

Incidentally, apparently immigrants contribute about £2.5bn annually to the economy.... of the 123,000 who came from Eastern Europe when the respective countries joined the EU, only 23 are actually on benefit... and those asylum seekers who are on benefit (they're not allowed to work), actually receive 30% below the normal rate.  So the 'problem' is basically being grossly exaggerated because..well, biases are easily manipulated, and asylum seekers in particular don't vote.
