Not anymore! I have found a way to make player capships work, provided that the mission is also built well. You can't just stick a fenris into SURRENDER, BELSARIUS and make it the player ship. You have to make the odds against you, meaning you have to be selective on which ships you shoot with which beams and how often. You'll notice that in the mission where you eventually get to a pair of Fenrisi, the Hatsephut destroyer doesn't use its main beams on them, as it would be a waste of energy. Well, this is not exactly like that, but it is similar. You could be in a situation where you are in an Aeolus, and in front of you is a Cain with such little health that it is sparking. You could use both frontal beams on it and destroy it easily, or you could select only one beam to fire at the Cain, and leave the other on standby incase another enemy cruiser jumps in. The Aeolus' SGreens recharge in a whopping 45 seconds, which leaves you mostly a sitting duck if you expend all your beams at once.
You can select to fire induvidual beams at induvidual targets, or select beams to be on standby, not firing at anything. You can also select to fire groups of the same types of turrets and AAA beams at induvidual targets, or have them fire at all targets within range. I am sure that I could add more obtions that do not have to do with weapons, like killing the engines to increase the firing rate of your turrets.
Well, the ETS keys on a mac are help, home, page up, delete, end, and page down. The capships DO use engine power, its just that the AI doesn't use it.
