connecting an old laptop to a TV
Here's the plan: I've got this oooooold laptop and my plan is to put SNES9x on it so I can play snes games on the big TV with big speakers and such. Now then, for output this thing has: 1 USB port, a port where you plug in a CRT monitor, a useless docking station port, a printer port, a serial port, PS/2, three speaker kinda ports (mic, line-in, etc.), and two PCM/CIA slots. Is there any way I can get both video and audio from this laptop to a standard red/yellow/white cable and plug it into my entertainment system?

I know that my laptop has S-Video out which is what I would use, but I'm guessing with your setup you'll need some sort of adapter from CRT monitor --> video for the TV, and a similar one to output stereo sound (or you may have to be satisfied with mono) from your speaker port to the TV's L/R audio. Your local electronics shop ought to be able to help you find the appropriate cables. :)

Our radio shack got replaced by a donut store a few years ago so I guess I'll have to go to a neighboring town to find anything. I don't know if it's worth the trouble.

Replaced by a donut store? Well, I suppose you could try hooking the laptop up to the TV via a series of parallel-linked jam donuts...

Personally, to be able to play Final Fight 3 and Chrono Trigger on my TV, I'd go to the effort. Just for the heck of it. ;)
