My only problem with the SOC logo: Why exactly the SOC one? Why not the GTVA one?

No, seriously, our hero is an SOC operative. Hence the crest. But note that the crest now stands as a possible placeholder, waiting for a better logo to come up.
Also, the framed screenshot is not in its final location, i just placed it there so people would see how the POTD would look like. The real POTD will be a tad smaller.
As for resolution, i can´t do anything about it. I used texture maps to make it, i cannot increase the resolution. However, if i "shrink" it down to 800x800, i could get a slight improvment. But most people use 1024.
