Epic Games's Mark Rein: in addition to the Sony demos being shown by Phil Harrison, the Epic and EA presentations were the only third party portions actually running on the PS3 in real-time."

This is not necesarilly proof that the Killzone 2 stuff was pre-rendered, it makes it possible.

:(

I really liked the way it looked...

Killzone 2 is pre-rendered, there is no way the clouds and the smoke (not to mention the whole high poly army) are being processed by console.

@Raa... All the previous threads have specific titles... *considers making one mega-thread*

Found this article linked to the one I pulled the above qoute out of... It makes a very saddening and convincing argument.

They wouldn't have been showing it unless the PS3 was capable of rendering it real time. The thing is that the videos themselves were not perhaps rendered in real time, because the final hadrware isn't ready yet. But I have little doubt that when the PS3 is released, and you buy Killzone 2, it will look look exactly like those videos and be running real-time.

So I got some answers...

My friend works at Axis, an animation studio in the UK ( http://www.axisanimation.com ) It is the same studio that created the first Killzone's rendered cinematics (they've got a BAFTA award for it).

Here's what he can officially say:
- The trailer was made to the specification of the next-generation hardware and is representative of the look and feel of the actual game.
- Axis has provided the content, models and animation for the trailer. These have been made to fit the specification of the game and are intended to be used in the game.

That's all he's allowed to say. Interpret it as you will.

Only one problem...

The developer apparently said that Killzone 2 will not be on the PS3 according to the article I linked to.

This leads me to believe that Sony is pulling out a bunch of crap game "footage" wise (this includes motorstorm, that was waaay pre-rendered) in order to kill the hype for the other consoles.

I really, really doubt the final game will look like that.

I'm just wondering if anyone is going to call Sony's big bluff.

On the other hand, I don't like the fact that EA wants people to believe that the Madden 06 stuff is in-game. That is also an artists rendition. However, most of the stuff shown for the Xbox360 seems to have been in-game. This simple fact atests to Ghost Recon 3's sweetness.

Heh... That's halarious... apparently the PS3 fanboys are responding to the Killzone trailer fake by saying that the GR3 trailer was not-in game. Laughable.

*still sad that Killzone stuff is not real*

Thing is....X-Box 360 has more credibility at being rendered in real time as it seems there is actually a working piece of hardware going for it due for public consumption by the end of the year.  Nintendo and Sony are coming in the year after as I understand it...

I also heared there are some big problems with the Cell processor...but no idea why or what they were. We'll see.  Point being, its far from being made ready...X-Box 360 is a little closer...in the guessing game of marketing...its more likely to conclude that GR3 was done in the games hardware.

Yeah, especially considering that it actually had a HUD and not every movement seemed scripted...
