I answered this one on the other thread. The prosecution gave out a list of boys he supposedly abused. They got a witness to come in and claim that he had seen the abuse. The supposed victim came in as a defence witness and catagorically stated that nothing of the sort had happened.

Once you've proved that one of the claims is a complete fabrication in that way most juries are much more likely to believe that the rest are also fabricated especially when given the flimsy evidence presented in this case.

I think the prosecution made claims over 5 victims of abuse, and 3 came forward to refute it on the stand.  There wasn't any physical evidence of abuse found (because it would have been so long after the fact - another reason for suspicion over the motives for bringing the case now), and there were pretty obvious concerns over motivations of the prosecution witnesses (such as the security guard who sold a story about an alleged abuse in order to fund a wrongful dismissal lawsuit).

I think it's fair to say - as lawyers have - that in a lower profile suspect this would never have went to court.  It was basically built on a house of straw based around public image.

Why are you so burned over it anyway?

People jumping to conclusions are often the smoldering wood for a witch hunt.
