Just got done modeling a new Terran fighter and wanted some input.  Take a gander:

Looks similar to that Ulysses Mk II that was posted recently. Not that that is a bad thing.

I think I like it, the pics are too small to really make anything out, but it reminds me of the Ulysses. Try looking at the texture for inspiration to add some greebling on the wings.

Pics are really tiny, but from what I see, it looks like you just pulled vertices on the original Uly.

Yeah, I just pulled for the most part, but added some more modeled guns.  I plan for most of the work to be done in the texturing anyway, but this is a WIP after all.

I just figured out how to Snap UV's to the model so I expect to come out of this with a more or less kickass Texture job.

Might do some more tweeks with the mesh.  Let me see If I can't enlarge the pics...

they should give you a link to a page along with that thumbnail, use the picture as a link (nested image tag should do it) and we'll figure it out.

Photobucket shrinks anything over 250kb. This might have to do with the fact that those pics are bmps, which can get really huge.

I got it.  They divided the 800x600 by 4 so I shrank the pictures to 640x480.  Might change them to JPGs later but I think for the moment the problem is fixed.  For now anyways.  With any update pics they'll be JPG or GIF methinks.

Just look back at the aforementioned Pics.

Actually, it shrinks them in each dimension by 2 repeatedly until it gets down to a suitabke size; those are still only 320x240.  You realize that a JPG at your original resolution would only be about 35k, right?

I sort of like it. You could always write up some fluff about it being based on the Ulysses' chassis to save $$$ to explain the resemblance.

My personal goal was to make this a plausible MKII.  One that looks different enough to have had some redesign, but I wanted base resemblance to remain.  I didn't want to turn the Ulysses into an apollo and call it a MkII.

Maybe little doohickeys and thingamabobs for navigation/targeting sensors.

Hmmm.  I doubt I have the ability to get the cockpit right, however, more detailed Primary and secondary weapons banks I'm  willing to tackle.  And of course, I'll make sure to texture this baby in style.  

I'll be the first to admit I'm not the second coming of Jesus with modeling (that's Bobboau's department),  But give me a base model and I'll damn well make it better (IMO).
