DoGA fun (img moderate)
just a few things in DoGA for sheer fun's sake

first off, Benghali Rail Tank

benghali heavy strike bomber

Benghali heavy atmospheric capable passenger transport

and lastly, "Priders of the Fleet" featuring a benghali cruiser, and a Siege Dreadnaught

he will become docile after that,

excellent renders and models, indeed. Your tank is far better than anything ive been able to come up with so far.

Some feedback, though. You may want to include some sense of scale on the space vessels - i.e., maybe tiny, anti-fighter turrets that are to scale with human beings? That alone should make them even more awe-inspiring.

thanks, i made the body and turret separately and saved the turret itself as a part in its own right.

Re: DoGA fun (img moderate)
That's pretty much the way it should be. A better method would be to make an entirely new turret using the parts, much like how you did the ships. If you need turrets, I can provide a few, if required.

That transport looks vaguely like the ones in the Phantom Menace.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Re: DoGA fun (img moderate)
She's definately coming about nicely, but some of the turrets need work methings (mostly just the ones where the end of the barrels seem 'swollen' when compared to the rest)

actually, that's intended, they are rail turrets and all.

Re: DoGA fun (img moderate)
you may want to adjust it a bit then - its off centre from the barrel itself.

Otherwise, as mentioned, overall design is quite good. :)

Re: DoGA fun (img moderate)
you have no idea how long this ***** of a thing took me to texture

and yes i do realise that some of said textures need some work.

oh, right, just to note, Singh, once you figure out how to get these models into a usable format available to other 3d Model programs, tell me how and i'll see about making the benghali's vessels available to those modders who can put it into freespace 2 or something.

Re: DoGA fun (img moderate)
I hate to lay this bombshell on you after you've textured it - but if you are looking to convert, it would have been best to do it BEFORE texturing, as the materials and conversion stage needs to be done in Metaseqoua for proper Hierarchy and mapping.

I still havent figured out a good way to convert it yet, so you're pretty much on your own there :(

i gathered as much, i can fix that later, if you do figure out a way to convert it to a usable format for all those freespace modders, i'll have the hull and gunmounts for this 12km double-barreled megarailgun. :D

Re: DoGA fun (img moderate)
indeed.

If you wish to 'prepare' it for conversion, so to speak, I'd recommend doing two things:

1. First, seperate out the cannons and other components of your guns into seperate parts, i.e., barrels, turret, turret base, etc into their own seperate objects.

2. Second, re-connect these seperate parts in the multi-joint object editor. This will allow for a basic heirarchy to exist for the turrets. Do note, the individual parts must be exactly to the scale you intend them to be when you seperate them. This is especially true in the end multi-part turret, otherwise when you DO convert it to a different format, each part will be to the scale you set in the first object editor when someone opens it up in TS or the like.

Hope that helps, at the least. I'm working atm to try and convert fighters, but cleaning up all the internal polygons is pretty damn difficult, to say the least >_<
