The reason I ask is one my instructor recomended that we get a cheap  laptop so we can have our stuff, lab projects and what not, on hand for when we have time to work on them and I was wondering if you thought this was a good deal?

Odds are I won't buy it anyway, leastwise till I get a long term source of income, and even then a second computer is going to a bit down the  list.

BTW, that SOB is powerful enough to become my primary system till I get a better graphics card for my desktop, even then it would be a good LAN machine.

To answer the question, maybe if I had the money. It looks about 4/3 or at par with the cost of a desktop equivelant, depending where you buy from.

Looks very similar to my laptop. Or you could wait even longer and watch prices fall and specs rise further.

It's a refurb, I think it's a good deal since it's not that out of date and it's less than half of what something similar would be new.

BTW, for those who don't watch Monster Garage(you heretics, you don't know what you're missing) "bones" is slang for dollars, greenbacks, bucks, ect.
