Hi Everyone, I'm one of them newbies looking for advice. First I'd like to thank everyone who makes FS live on.
Is there a recommended settings page? I got the official release 3.6.7 w/ MediaVPs 3.6.7 and 5.3 Launcher.
My system is as follows:
2000+
512MB@266
R9600 256MB@400/400 w/ 5.13 Catalyst

Running OpenGL 1024-32bit, High Detail for now

FSO sometimes runs choppy, especially when something fires beams (~8fps?.  In certain situations there seems to be enough fps but the ship reacts with noticeable delay. Also I experienced some long lags (not enough mem?). I read here that I should disable the pcx32, but hoped you guys could tell me how to boost my performance witm minimum quality loss.

somewhere on these forums are links where you can download low texture or retail texture beams and explosions. Those seem to be the biggest hit performance wise in most missions. I'll see if I can remember where they are.

Downloaded the beams slowdown patch, runs much smoother now..
