A different kind of model dump. Namely, they're all turrets for an idea of mine where the ship itself never materialized. They were not conciously designed to be particularly high or low poly (save in the end stages, where I chopped the barrel polycounts as much as I felt possible), and I can't give a particular polycount, because that's not a feature of the program I use. Cinema4D was made for movie work, where polycount is no object.

Aside from the addition of firepoints, and possibly messing with the normals, they ought to be fully complete and ready to be slapped onto a model and converted. Of course, you can still screw around with the modelling too (resmoothing comes to mind) if you want.

Misc. BS About Designs

Most of these were inspired by too much time at places like NavWeps.com or combinedfleet.com, and looking at far too many pictures of WWII warship turrets. The center and far left (your left) take after British 4.7" twin turret design; the two flanking the center owe much (nearly all for the right-side one) to the design of the KMS Bismarck's twin 105mm antiaircraft mounts. The missile launcher (I'm not sure multipart missile launchers even work...) owes pretty much nothing to any particular design.

The missile launcher reminds me of an old Soviet mobile anti-air deal designated the 2S-6M. Used to have fun dodging the little bastards when playing Comanche 3.

The turret on the far right actually resembles one of those houses that is split in 2 for 2 different owners.

Multipart missile launchers work fine, there are a few ships out there that already use them.  Just remember that you have no control over max elevation, so while most of the time a box launcher only looks good pointing forwards, in FS2 it will default to straight up.

It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here
