I got BSOD, so I reinstalled my OS, thinking I was gonna start all over again. Nothing huge, I've done it before. I wasn't gonna lose anything I couldn't get again.

Well I rebooted and lo and behold all my stuff is still here, but I can't access any of it. I'm working on a teaser for my campaign and when I run it all I get is the sound. I can't seem to run any videos or play music. I tried different players and nothing worked.

Now I didn't even know I had anything left because I had started new documents folders and even had to redo all my drivers etc. I really only stumbled on my old files when I was redownloading a bunch of programs and found they were already there.

Any help? That's a lot of work I don't have to do if I can get at them.

Sounds a bit like a dodgy format. I had this once, where my Recycle bin listed loads of programs that were there in the previous installation, but I couldn't delete them or anything.

Your best bet is a strip-down, reformat and try again I think, but wait for other people to answer first, since there may be a workaround I don't know about.

Hmmmm, if that's the case I'm gonna try to upload some stuff before I reformat.

Check your ownership settings (Assuming you're running 2K or XP, if not, disregard).  If you or the group you belong to does not have ownership, log in as an administrator and take ownership and give your username access as well.  I've seen Windows do funny stuff like this AFTER a reformat, because the unique user identifier is different even though the username is the same when you reformat.  This *Might* give you back access to your files.
