What a bored mind will write... Basically, this is the opening sequence of a story I'll begin writing on sooner or later. This is one of the few things I've ever written for the hell of it so I'm guessing it won't be spectacular. My foremost inspirations is, as you will read, Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett
_______________
Imagine space. Imagine our galaxy, and then proceed to imagining our solar system. Now mentally zoom in to our Earth. Now, ruin this image with a subtitle saying ‘April 10th, 2002’. And then the image is suddenly ruined again by a spaceship crossing. Focus on this spaceship. It’s saucer shaped hull, it’s flashing lights and it’s green exterior makes it immediately clear that it is not Earthen. The spaceship is now approaching the atmosphere and the hull seems to be on the verge of blowing up but suddenly it slows down and it hovers silently fifty kilometres in the sky. Suddenly it jolts forward again and begins to land on a pasture near a cow.
The landed vessel suddenly opens and for the first time we see it’s occupants. The fact that they’re not quite Earthen in appearance, that is, green, short, bug-eyed is quite expected.
The fact that they were carrying some kind of computer was also expected. However, the fact that they were carrying with them the Golden Pages and a handphone was not expected.
The two aliens got off their spaceship, which was for inexplicable reasons filled with fog, and approached the cow which was placidly eating it’s grass. They looked at each other and as far as we can decipher alien facial expressions, they looked quite confused. One of them said in reasons unknown in English “Hey, Xynx, do we know this creature?”. The one called Xynx replied “Look in the Book and search up Earthen fauna.” The first alien took out the computer on which we briefly see a ‘Don’t’ and the computer asked
“Good day, user PHIL, what would you like to do?”
Phil said: “Search up, Earthen Fauna’.
The computer replied “Two results found, cat and dog”.
Phil: “Let’s try cat, open cat.”
“Cat: Not a dog”
Xynx asked “Try dog, that might help”
Phil replied “Sure, open dog”
“Dog: not a cat”
Phil: “Does this thing either look like a cat or dog?’
Xynx: “Do we even know what’s a dog or cat?”
Phil: “No, we don’t…’
Xynx: “Look, we need some material to bring back before lunch, what’s this place called?’
Phil: “From what I read, a pasture”
Xynx: “Alright, write: ‘Pasturer: Found in pastures, not a cat nor a dog'”
Phil: "Write entry 'Pasturer: Found in pastures, not a cat nor a dog'"
Entry written: Pasturer: Found in pastures, not a cat nor a dog
Phil: “Perfect, all written down, come on, let’s get back.”
And saving the narrator work, they returned the same way the came here.
