Is best buy pirating software?
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060413-6596.html

Quote
Winternals, the Texas software company known for programs such as ERD Commander 2005, has filed suit against electronics retailing giant Best Buy this week, claiming that the company has been using thousands of unlicensed copies of their software in stores across the nation. A judge has already granted a temporary restraining order against Best Buy, ordering them to refrain from using any unlicensed Winternals software

I really didn't see this coming......
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

:wtf:

For real? Who would be that stupid?
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Btw, has anyone even heard of "Winternals" or "ERD Commander 2005" before?

Not me.

Shades of some other unknown companies suing everyone in sight for software using dubious proprietary code claims? Naaaahhh...

Winternals.. ah yes..  a POS I used at work once.  I think it was a utility that allowed you to boot into a goofed up machine to get it to work again or to get data out before a reformat.  Then I got smart and just made Ghost images of the compromised drives and viewed them got the data out in the Windows Ghost image viewer utility.
It's been ages, and I've only really used it once, seems like something stupid the "geek (gunk) squad" would use.

I really hadn't heard of SAP and SPSS until a few months ago either.

Actually, it was the "Geek Squad" that was pirating it.
