Explain to me why there's the whole rigmarole over preventing terrorism in the US, and yet are totally cool will people buying and selling military-grade hardware such as this over eBay?!

Perhaps because an obsolete, very likely decommisioned MiG-21 launched from China poses about as much threat to the US as Osama Bin Laden's left pinkie fingernail?

You can always attach a rocket pod on the side...

Well, you could also get one of these, go onto a visit to Vyborg Marketplace and get some ammo quite easily, I'd wage.

I've heard quite wild stories of what's on sale on Vyborg Marketplace. Even if 1/10 of it is true, you could get live ammunition for T-72, only you'd have to pay quite a bit for it.

I think these would be much cooler than an un-flying MiG-21... or even a flying one. Of course, a flying WW2-era fighter would have a cool factor uncomparable to all the other toys in the world...

in the future there will be wars fought entirely with equipment bought on ebay, where opposing nations will try to outbid eachother so that they can get hardware to use against the enemy first, all while american sellers get filthy rich.

i like this concept.

I think it reflects poorly on my country that the majority of its airforce is made up of fighters considered old enough and harmless enough to sell on the open market. Wheee!

Actually, Serbia is selling its Mi-7s and Mi-24 Hinds to the public, and a functional Hind is probably quite a bit more dangerous than a de-activated MiG-21.

Cause the cost of fuel and running the thing would be horrendous!
Not to mention finding a runway. :p

Another civil war in America would be bat**** insane come to think of it. The public is better armed than the flaming military! o.O

Who needs a runway? Just don't take off.

Plus you have a better response to be being cut up in traffic than just giving them the finger :D

True, but a tank is a tad more imposing on the highway, especially if it points it's main gun at someone :drevil:
