Y'know, I would have had alot more respect for bush and his associates if they'd laughed.  Because, the ability to laugh at yourself is always a plus in my book.  Character wise anyway.

Well Bush laughed at the jokes about Laura...
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

The crazy girl at prom doesn't scream about animal rights in the character of someone who hates animals.

I saw this a week or two ago.  Colbert's usually much funnier, but it was pretty funny.  But click the link to the video, then look to the right and find the President Bush Impersonator bit.  That was really funny.

But that's not as funny because everyone was laughing at it. The reason Stephen Colbert was so funny was because he had the godlike testicular fortitute to get up in front of a crowd hand-selected by the White House, and call the president an idiot to his face. The president's little bit with his impersonater was all on his own ground. It was cute and everyone was all cozy with it. But when Colbert started in, to paraphraze Dane Cook, the vibe was as though Daddy just hit Mommy at the dinner table and everyone was still trying to eat.

If you're going to preach tolerance you better damn well practice it towards everyone (fundamentalists, gun-lovers, etc.).

You do know what tolerance means, don't you?  It means, you can criticise & argue with people for being wrong, but you can't run around just insulting them.  Now, AFAIK, Kara has never just called you are anyone (for example) a "****ing dick" or somesuch.

Even if I had I would simply be insulting him. The issue is with using someone sexuality as an insult and thereby insulting everyone with that sexuality.

If you insult one person based on his actions that's generally acceptable as long as you aren't doing it to a member of this board and therefore flaming.
