when i try to play freespace port the game crashes once i get to the main hall of freespace... i got freespace_open and all the media vps and freespace port and the vps that go with it. i got the new fsport which is compatable with freespace_open. all the vps are in the main folder... i read somewhere that is where i need to keep the vps. when i take out the main fs_port vp the game runs fine

put them in a mod folder? Are you sure you installed into "C:/Games/Freespace2/", because if you didn't, it gets quarky...

do i create the mod folder? cause i dont see one, and where do i put the mod folder? does it matter if i put it in the data file or just the main freespace 2 file? also do i put all the freespace port files in to the mod folder? what about other mods i download? do i need a seperate mod folder for them or do i put them all in the same mod folder?

If you want to run the port in hi-res, you need to download the hi-res pack.  It says so on the website.

You don't have one of the required graphics .vps  Go back the website and download and use all of the VPs.

i have all the vps downloaded and it still dont work... if i click on yes to go into debugger mode it brings me to the main hall... except its pitch black and everytime i click on somethin it brings up the option if i want to leave the game or not... no matter where i click

In that case maybe you got the hi-res pack but it was corrupt. Try downloading it again.
