Here's my little creation for FS2.
Here's a ship I knocked together this morning with trueSpace 3.2 and the PrimitiveItch MeshForge Demo tSX plugin. I have the full version, somewhere. There's still a page with an e-mail address at www.primitiveitch.com Might be a good idea to e-mail and ask what their plans are for their old tSX plugins for trueSpace 3.x

The wings, body, engine pods and tailfins were made with MeshForge. The wingtips I rounded up some with the bevel tool. The ends of the body and engine pods were finished with the sweep, bevel and tip tools. The tailfins had nothing done after being made with MeshForge.

The cockpit and reactorwhatchamacallitthingy on top were from my previous attempt yesterday that sucked and all but those two bits were ruthlessly deleted. ;) I haven't touched any version of trueSpace in quite a while, and it's been years since I used 3.2. Had to rediscover a bunch of the tricks I learned...

I've included the model as an attachment here. I'm giving it to the Freespace community to do whatever they want with it. Use it, examine it, put the bits on your own models. Whatever you want! As for where the weaponry goes, I haven't got that far... I'll leave that up to someone more creative.

Looks alright, but for that much detail you are using way too many polies.

Re: Here's my little creation for FS2.
1635 faces on that ship. Would be less if I did Object Union on it all to make it a single piece... comes to 1561 faces that way. 1433 without the reactor lid on the top. A simpler cockpit would also knock a few off too. Deleting the reactor lid and the cockpit drops it to 1193 faces when all joined. Hmm, could just grab some faces on top near the front, lift them up a bit, get creative with quad dividing and edge deleting for a cockpit... There's a fine art to creating new edges in tS3 since there's no direct, click here then there way to do it.

What's the usual poly # range for FS2 small craft?

The main reason I made it was to show what can be done fairly quickly with trueSpace 3. I just put one of the textures and bump maps on it that come with trueSpace. It'd definately need UV map work done by whatever software people use for that for FS2. I've been looking for a good UV map tSX but they sll seem to be for tS4 and tS5. I have newer versions of trueSpace, I'm looking for stuff for tS3 to help the FS2 modding community.

Re: Here's my little creation for FS2.
And now for 1207 polys. The cockpit canopy is four faces pulled up then a bunch of edge and point position manual editing, some quad dividing followed by vertex removal. To get the angled corners I did vertex welding on one side then got the numbers from that point on the opposite side to put it back where I wanted, then repeated the procedure for the opposite side. Also simplified the wingtips to a single angle bevel insted of the three angles they were. (Actually just did one then copied, mirrored and normalized rotation of the copy. ;-)

All booleaned together it's 1153 polys.

Pretty colors...

That's the default tS3.x new scene light setup. Three local lights set to three different colors.
