Forced to get a new PC early.
I have been planning on buying a new PC for a while now. I hoped I could put it off for a while longer. But, the PC I had fried Early Saturday morning during a storm that did not wake me up. So, instead of waiting and getting a beefy custom system, I had to get one this weekend. Its not exactly what I wanted, but it is a huge improvment of what I had.

My old system:

Brand: Emachines W2047
AMD Athlon XP 2000+ clocked at 1.6 ghz
512 pc2700 ddr memory
40 gb hard drive
Nvidia Geforce FX 5700 LE 128 mb

My new system:

Brand: Gateway GM5084 Media center Pc
Amd Athlon 64 Live dual core 4200+ clocked at 2.2 ghz
2 gb of pc3200 ddr memory
320 gb hard drive
Nvidia intergrated Geforce 6100 up to 256 mb shared (will get a better video card)

For best results, build your own desktops.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Re: Forced to get a new PC early.
How much did it cost?

Re: Forced to get a new PC early.
I got it for $800. And I don't have the skills to build my own and I did not have time to wait as I did not have access to another pc.
