Weapons bug in FSO 3.6.7.
Alright everyone, I have just recently made my return to the FS2 world.  I got a new computer and have installed FS2 and FSO onto my computer.  I've gone through karajoma's FAQ and have managed to make the game work with OpenGL.  Now I have these two problems.  First, I experience massive framerate slowdowns when I have a lot of warships around, this caused it to crash on Direct D8D.  It works better on OpenGL and doesn't crash.  The second problem is that all the weapons loadouts in the main campaign are messed up.  For example, in "Rebels and Renegades" all I can use are the default Subach HL-7 and Prometheus-R and tempest dumbfire missiles.  In the mission with the Actium and Lysander, can only use tornadoes, which shouldn't even be available at this point. I'm really sorry if this sounds all newbie and vague.

3.6.7 is ancient, get 3.6.9 RC... something

Actually, see if you have all of these:

Checklist:

  • The Zeta Media VPs, available here
  • A 3.6.9 RC, or CVS build like this one
  • The mp-710 patches, get both files here and here and if you use the advanced effects VP, here

Also, make sure you have the following:

  • Recent OpenAL release, available here
  • An okay graphics card, available at your local computer store, also available at Newegg
