I recently learned that you can get many different Wavetables for midi playback, but I don't know where to begin looking for decent ones.  Considering how crappy Microsoft's sounds.

I tried a Google search, but I don't really know what to look for or where to begin.

Also, a method or program to convert MIDIs into wave files would be greatly appreciated as well.

A point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

 :)

You need to look into something called Soundfonts I think, not only can you get replacement MIDI wavetables, but you can also get some simple choir and other synths.

I don't use them, not even certain how, but I think you need a Creative Labs card to do so :)

Ugh, I have one, but for some odd reason whenever I set it to 5.1 surround sound, it never seems to actually give me 5.1 surround sound.  It sticks to stereo sound.  So I've returned to the old integrated SoundMAX one in this thing.

If anyone knows anything about this, that would be excellent as well.
