I'm new to FRED2_Open and I've read some tutorials, but whenever I create a mission in FRED2_Open and try to run it in Freespace, I get an 'Error Unable to Load File' message, and mission doesn't load.
I'm using the latest P4 version of FRED2_Open (2006/10/14_r) and fs2_open_3_6_5, with whatever the newest .vp files were off the SCP website.  However, when I run FRED2, the I can create and play missions, but it doesn't recognize some of models for my ships, and I get a bunch of weird errors on start up, but FRED2 eventually runs.
On a related note I suppose, I tried to replay the Derelict SCP Edition Campaign, and I go the same unable to load file message.  This is all after installing inferno mod, but I've removed the folder that, and have configured my game to load with no mods.

Any clue with what might be wrong?

Standard newbie help:
Got a problem with the SCP? Check the list before you post a "help me" topic. If you do post a "help me" topic and your problem is on the list, I'll be there to say, "Why didn't you use 'The List'?"

follow link above, report any remaining problems.

why would an SCP error be considered as news? :wtf: *smacks Cobra*It's a feature.

Alright, I've done most things on the list, upgraded to 3.6.7, but that's besides the point.  I had my nice SCP installation working fine until recently, where I've gotten a whole bunch of error messages because I ran the inferno mod once.
When I try to run the Derelict campaign now, the mission loads, but then it tells me the SEXP is invalid or something:
Quote
Error: Invalid subsystem name.

In sexpression: ( when
   ( is-event-true-delay
      "Poseidon is Scanned"
      0
   )
   ( sabotage-subsystem
      "Tau Sigma Station"
      "fighterbay"
      0
   )
)
(Error appears to be: fighterbay)
File:mission/missionparse.cpp
Line: 4688
[This filename points to the location of a file on the computer that built this executable]

Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

Everything is configured with accordance to the 'nooblist'.
Do you reccomend I just delete my FS2 folder, uninstall the game and then do a clean start and hope missions that I write with FRED2_Open work properly?

Sure, here's my folder with the newest files first:
http://files.ionicdomain.com/images/sc1.jpg

Followed by a bunch of Nebulae from Lightspeed's pack, and then;

and there's your problem.

there are supposed to be some folders inside that folder.

you'd be better off re-installing than trying to re-sort those files.

No he wouldn't. :wtf:

Simply move all *.bak and *.fs2 files into FreeSpace2/data/missions, all Derelict*.vp files into FreeSpace2/derelict, all mv*.vp files into FreeSpace2/mediavps, all exp*.ani and nebul*.pcx files into FreeSpace2/data/effects, and all *.rar files somewhere else.  Voila, instant working FS2 installation.

Once that's done, to run Derelict, simply do fs2_open_3_6_9 -mod derelict.
