Been reading the Wiki and FAQs etc. a bit.
So multipart turrets must (in Retail) A. have the rotational axis point straight up or straight down and B. turrets pointing up must have their initial direction pointing forward and C. turrets pointing downward must have their initial direction pointing aft.
Hmmmm. That would make it a bit difficult to design something like a medium bomber with a chin turret pointing forward and a dorsal turret to take care of the rear.

Is there some way to work around this? Perhaps by making the model that way but setting the field of view to the way it's desired? Would the turrets swing around to how I want them in the game, then not go back to point through the ship?
How do turrets work on a ship the player is flying? Do they automatically track and fire at hostiles or???
It'd be cool to have a ship with a field of fire similar to a B-17G.

One two gun chin turret, one tailgun, one dorsal turret with two guns, a waist gun on each side (would have to use the other sort of turret for those) and a two gun ball turret on the bottom.
But for starters I'm just thinking about a limited field of fire turret mounted behind the cockpit on
this fighter. Sorta like the turret on the Hammerhead fighters in S:AaB that were only used in a couple of episodes then totally forgotten.
