A new ship! Well, not all that new, it's another .cob I did years ago and have pulled from the dustbin after discovering the nifty tools for UV mapping.

The original had a flip up canopy and a largish hole under it for a cockpit that never happened.
After removing all that and deleting vertexes, I raised up the new canopy area pretty close to what the original was.
A big change was the weaponry department. This one has four recessed ports on the front, the bigger ones are for missiles while the smaller are for guns. (Currently lacking textures, and ideas for same, on those four faces.) Those areas and the engine cutouts at the back caused a bit of greif! After doing the unwrap and exporting back to .cob, they were 'set free' from the rest of the mesh and covered over. Blarg! I had to recut them, connect them to other vertexes then I raised them above the planes they're in by .001 so trueSpace wouldn't delete the new edges should I do more booleaning on it.
Oh, back to the weaponry changes! The second piccy is the last stage of the model from way back. The weapons pods slide out one meter to that position. I decided that would be a PITA to map, at least for now. The canopy frame and windows is all geometry, not texture.
Included in the ZIP are four versions of the model. The only one with proper UV is fighter3.cob fighter4.cob is 3 minus the engine and weapon port cuts. The other two are olde version, with and without the sliding weaponry pods.
This ship was somewhat based on a 3 view drawing I did some years before I got into trueSpace. It has the sliding pods and also a pair of vertical radiators supported up and to the rear on gridwork pylons. As neither the drawing nor the original .cob have engine exhaust ports, I guess I was thinking of some sort of reactionless drive.

As always, do whatever you like with these models. If you want the .psd (currently unfinished) or just the .bmp texture, just ask and we'll arrange xfer of the big file(s).
