I always liked movies like
The Negotiator. with hostage situations and similar ones like that in general (though Negotiator went a little further).
Standoff seems to air just before House which I also watch, and the main actor is
Ron who is the guy known from Office Space or Band of Brothers (hell of an actor in other words).
Show's about the FBI's crisis management team, and the two negotiators that work as a team together with the SWAT unit (snipers, entry point people, etc.). Kind of original to be put into a series, considering the series I see on TV so far have been all about detectives, death, murder, dead people, hospitals and diseases.
It's definitely not the best thing out there at the moment (those spots being Battlestar Galactica and Heroes), and I don't think it's really known if it'll last or not, just started airing, but it's a lot better than the usual **** that passes for TV these days.
Anyway, I thought it was cool enough to write a thread about it to anyone who's got extra time they want to kill and likes this kind of stuff.
