You need a modeling program, unless you're using ready-made models. I recommend Truespace because its free, check one of the threads called 'This may be useful' or something like that. But if you can you could get 3DSMax but that's very expensive. You need PCS since Modelview cannot make thrusters or paths.
Oh, and one more thing. You names are not uniform to the standard GTVA naming convention. The GTVA uses Greek names, such as Hercules, Zeus, etc. There is a massive list of Greek names on
wikipedia. If you're making Vasudan ships check out
this. Shivan ships use demonic or indian names, so check out
List of Demons. I really like Wikipedia, you can tell.
