Best way to find obscure tracks no longer sold ANYwhere?
Yes, I'm asking where I can download music. I've trying to find a version of Deitiphobia's song "Ancient" from the album "Clean", but it seems to be non-existant. iTunes doesn't have it, Amazon has it in their eBay-esque "Buy this item used" thing, but the seller won't ship it to Israel. Even a low-quality, mono version of the song would suffice - I'm merely trying to see if it's the song I'm thinking of. But I can't find any "play sample" links anywhere, either.

So, having exhausted all other reasonable alternatives, I've been forced to resort to P2P. Does anyone by chance have this song, or, more likely, could people recommend what the current top dog is in P2P apps for finding obscure songs? It used to be Kazaa a year or two back, but nowadays I don't know.

And just to assure any RIAA goons lurking about: no, we do not condone nor encourage piracy. But there's a limit to how far one can be expected to go just to hear a sample of a song from a mere 15 years ago, don't you think?

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

To save you the trouble, Limewire doesn't seem to have anything. "Dietophobia" does return results, but all of them are labeled like "Top of Charts-2005" and "TOTALLY HIP TRACK", which I'm not willing to risk downloading. No results come back indicating that legit songs are available.

Those are actually an indictation of some popularity at some point in the program's history. You'll find them if you search for any semi-obscure but good music. Widening the search a little or slightly altering it tends to produce results then.

its scuh a shame what the riaa is doing. i personally think every recorded track should be archived as a matter of historical record.
i hear alot of people looking for rare tracks that you cant buy anywhere. file sharing has the potential of turning the whole internet into a library for music. what the riaa does essentially equates to book burning, they want to have a monopoly on what makes them money and destroy any unsigned competition that they cant get a dime from. record companies will only sell whats they deem is worth the effort. go to any music site and the first thing you see is all the big name pop groups, they dont give a **** about your average joe blow bar band, less they see marketability in it.

it took me 2 years to find a copy of one album i was looking for, and i was looking across commercial and p2p/torrent sources alike. i broused forums and scanned torrent sites, but i finally found it. you could try looking for genre specifik sharing sites. theres a few for black metal which i use. not sure what kinf of music your song is but im sure theres some group on the internet which might have it/know where to find it.
I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Speaking of the RIAA, finding out how much they make per download is now a state secret:

"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

It won't let me access MusicNow since I'm not in the only important country in the world, the almighty US of A.

I hate when sites do that.

And Pandora doesn't have anything on Deitiphobia.
