When I try to run FreeSpace in the file tab in FRED2_open 3.6.9 it says that it can't find the specified file. What's with this?
Gettin' back to dodgin' lasers.

That has never worked for me. So I just ignore the little "Run" button.

I assumed that it didn't work for anyone, I just thought that there might be a fix.

AFAIK, no there isn't.

It's kinda like the fact that you can't type in SEXPs in FREDOpen, you have to select from the pull-down list.

Perhaps you were using the -mod option?  Not sure, but maybe there's a bug that makes it look for fs2_open in the same directory as the -mod is set to.  (I wouldn't think so, but...)

EDIT:  And what is your "Start in" directory set to in the shortcut?  Or do you use Run...?

It was a decent time saver when you knew exactly which SEXP you wanted.
