Linares 2007 just got interesting

P NAME                    ELO COUNTRY        1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 PTS
1 Ivanchuk,Vassily 2750 Ukraine         1 ½ 0 ½ 1 ½ ½ 4.0
2 Topalov,Veselin 2783 Bulgaria       0 ½ 0 1 ½ ½ ½ 3.0
3 Svidler,Peter         2728 Russia        ½ ½         ½ ½ ½ ½ ½ 3.5
4 Carlsen,Magnus         2690 Norway        1 1 ½ 1 ½ 0 ½ 4.5
5 Morozevich,Alexander 2741 Russia        0 ½ 0 ½ ½ 0 ½ 2.0
6 Aronian,Levon         2744 Armenia        0 ½ ½ ½ ½         1 ½ 3.5
7 Anand,Viswanathan 2779 India        ½ ½ ½ 1 1 0         1 4.5
8 Leko,Peter         2749 Hungary        ½ ½ ½ ½ ½ ½ 0 3.0

Round 7 is over and with half of the tournament still to be played, Carlsen seems to be recovering from his lackluster performance in Corus. Previous tournament winner, Aronian, just lost a game against Ivanchuk who looks to be in top form. Svidler is not surprisingly average and previous world champion Topalov is dissapointing after his joint win in Corus although after the 7th round, there is still hope for him. The others are pretty much doing what was expected of them.

Although, I never thought Morozevich would stand THAT bad. :p

Any bets for the winner? :)

Um.....what the hell are you talking about?

I'd say Topalov, as his name is the funniest.

Linares? Probably the world's best known chess tournament? Where the world's elite of the elite play a double-round robin to see who's going to earn a big fat check (and fame of course :nervous: ).

In a recent poll of me, 100% of those surveyed said that the only kind of chess that would be interesting to watch would be between naked Victoria's Secret models.
