Effectiveness of “Strategy” in Information Systems management
So for the first time in my Masters course I have reached a problem with one of my assignments. I have to produce a 2500 word essay on 'The role and effectiveness of “Strategy” in Information Systems management', the assignment is based on researching academic journal papers on the above topic.

The problem is I have been unable to locate anything decent enough tor eview (have to have at least two journals).

So, if you have a spair moment, could someone who is into these topics please link some good academy journals that deal with Strategy in Information Systems Management?

Many thanks.

Re: Effectiveness of “Strategy” in Information Systems management
I'd have to wonder what kind of strategy? The kind like.. to get promoted? Like strategy in competition? Or like, a strategy in solving an information systems problem with like a computer network or something?
I am a revolutionary.

That's the hard part, it does not explain greatly about the topic. So I am guessing it would be something to do with that, yeah.

Re: Effectiveness of “Strategy” in Information Systems management
It sounds like a general "how best a business should use its IS resources" question to me. Strategy might mean anything from gathering business and technical requirements to selecting the best hardware and software to use. Something you can probably afford to be a bit vague on, anyway. ;)

First thing I thought of was Database strategy, and being aware of the impact and relevance of the information you store and what you plan to do with it.

Re: Effectiveness of “Strategy” in Information Systems management
Ok I've decided to change my research question as the first one was not descriptive enough. The new question I have is:

"Information Systems implementation and management – key issues"

If anyone knows, or can find, any academic journals related to the above question, could they please post a link?

Many thanks again, guys.

Re: Effectiveness of “Strategy” in Information Systems management
I'll have a peek and see if I find anything.  In my job we constantly deal with strategy or lack of strategy in information systems management.  You may want to look up academic resources on things like the implementation of PeopleSoft personnel management systems in universities and corporations.  Having a strategy for dealing with information flows is vital...with my job, my department actually can't do its job properly because the organization is such that the information flows were not done with any strategy in mind and everything was bolted on.  The end result is data that is not available, was never created (but should have been), or isn't available in a format that related systems can use or access.
