I've was working on my campaign in FRED1, and I made some .wav files for briefings and special in game events. At first they worked fine, but when I booted up the mission today, the briefing sound files didn't work. I exited the game and checked that the files still played fine and weren't corrupted. They played perfectly. I went to the briefing editor and redid the file paths. I made sure the .wav files were in the right directory. Everything checked out. I booted up the mission again. IT STILL DIDN'T WORK!!! The funny thing is my in-mission message files still work and play fine in the mission. Can anyone help me???

Sad to say, that I am having that  identical problem with fred 2 open. I haven't had any success trying to resolve it either. It's really weird how that problem just comes out of nowhere. I'm wishing the best of luck with it.

Or maybe it's an issue with the formatting?
To consider the Earth as the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field of millet, only one grain will grow. - Metrodorus of Chios
I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. I could only imagine the GTVA warriors giving a mighty KIAAIIIIIII shout as they worked their triggers, their biceps bulging with sinew after years of Ivan Drago-esque steroid therapy and weight training. - General Battuta

I FOUND AN ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!! :D IT turns out that you need disc one in the cd-rom drive while you play the mission. Of course, my CD is shot to hell , but i was younger and unwise in those days.

Well, even though I am using freespace 2 open now, It's more than worth a try. When I get home in the morning I'll pop the freespace 2 cd in my drive and give it a shot. If It's that easy, I'll scream for joy.  :)
