I used to play FS years ago, but after trying out Eve and being irritated with the MMORPG aspects of it, I don't like the idea of spending months and years to get something that I can get much quicker in a single player game...

anyway, what would you gents suggest as the cheapest while best joystick I should look up?

Anything Saitek is likely to be perfect for what you're looking for.  Lots of people are happy with the Cyborg Evo and Cyborg Evo Force.

I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo. I chose it because it's customizable for left-hand use, has all the basic functions and is affordable. I paid full price for mine and think it was worth it. If you can get it for $15 then definitely go for it. I doubt you'll get a better joystick anywhere for that price.

Saitek Evo Force is the best. Don't let the overwhelming amount of buttons make you think that it's flimsy, it's anything but. I had a Wingman Attack 2, don't even go there. The force feedback is great, it handles well, an all around good stick.

Have you chosen the FS1 Main Campaign in the campaign selection screen? There shouldn't be the Belisarius or Cyclops bombs in FS1...
