For a liquid spill, immediately flip the laptop upside down. Do
not flip it right-side up, as the liquid collected in the underside of the keys will then go right back in. Shut it off (unplug, and remove battery), wait for it to dry, (use a blowdryer/heater, but not too aweful hot). You could look up online how to disassemble your laptop, and do so while it is upside down, to get the keyboard off.
I know, because my dad did this, and the computer repair shop told him this is what he should have done. The major killer isn't so much the liquid as the
sugar in the liquid...

of course the liquid doesn't help any.
